F/O Tyler Hawkins
Vice President–Administration/Secretary
United Airlines F/O Justin “Tyler” Hawkins serves as ALPA’s vice president–administration/secretary, where he administers ALPA’s policies and procedures and ensures compliance with U.S. and Canadian labor codes for ALPA’s elected representatives and labor leaders. He previously held the same position as the first Frontier pilot to serve as a national officer, but resigned when he transitioned to United Airlines as an apprentice reactivated member in 2023.
In his capacity as vice president–administration/secretary, F/O Hawkins also oversees the union’s Professional Development Group, which plays an integral role in how ALPA supports current members and the industry’s efforts to recruit the workforce needed to propel aviation into the next era, including those interested in becoming airline pilots.
Based in Newark, New Jersey, F/O Hawkins flies the Boeing 777. As a former ALPA rep on the Frontier Master Executive Council and chair of the group’s Strategic Preparedness and Strike Committee during the 2015–2018 contract negotiations, his initiative and leadership helped Frontier’s pilots secure a new contract worth $1 billion in new value, including pay increases averaging 53 percent in the first year of the deal.
ALPA’s Board of Directors ratified F/O Hawkins’ election on May 27, 2026, to fill a vacancy in the vice president–administration/secretary office for the term ending December 31, 2026. A graduate of Florida State University, he earned a BS in biological sciences, and he started his airline career at regional carrier ExpressJet Airlines. He currently lives with his wife and children in Raleigh, N.C.
